Stock Market News - Maruti Suzuki, RIL, ONGC are top gainers, Lemon Tree Hotels Jumps

Maruti Suzuki, RIL, ONGC, Tata Motors were among the biggest gainers, jumping up to 3%. L&T, Yes Bank, Asian Paints were among the losers, shedding up to 1.5%.


Lemon Tree Hotels Jumps The Most In Nearly Eight Months Shares of Lemon Tree Hotels rose as much as 17.2 percent, the most since Jan. 29, 2019, to Rs 69.95. About 5.52 crore shares or 7 percent equity of the company changed hands in a large trade, Bloomberg data showed. Buyers and sellers were not known immediately.

Maruti Suzuki Extends Gain; Shares Reclaim Rs 7,000-Mark Shares of Maruti Suzuki extended gains for the third consecutive trading session. The stock rose as much as 4 percent to trade above 7,000 for the first time since May 27.

Ashok Leyland, Amara Raja, Motherson Sumi, Maruti Suzuki, Infosys, Tata Motors, Britannia, Zee Entertainment, TCS, HUL and Grasim Industries are among major gainers on the Indices, while losers are Tata Steel, JSW Steel, IOC, Yes Bank, SBI, Power Grid, Gail, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Asian Paints, Aurobindo Pharma, Thomas Cook, and M&M. Among sectors, bank, infra, metal, and pharma are under pressure, while buying seen in the auto, energy and IT. Midcap and smallcap are trading with marginal gains.

Thomas Cook Extends Decline; Shares Drop Over 10% Shares of Thomas Cook extended declines for the second consecutive trading session. The stock fell as much as 10.8 percent to Rs 136.20. The company clarified that it has not received any intimation from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and has no existing relationship with Aarush Forex on the news of suspicious transaction made by the company.

Stock Market News - Yellow metal hits fresh record high as Iran attacks US forces

On the MCX, gold contracts for February were trading higher by Rs 562, or 1.38 percent, at Rs 41,225 per 10 gram at 0920 hours. It hit a record high of 42,278 per 10 gm. India Gold February futures hit a fresh record high on January 8 tracking gains in international spot prices which surged past $1,600 an ounce mark after Iran fired rockets at Iraqi airbase which hosts US forces that triggered risk-off sentiment. Spot prices hit their highest since March 2013 at $1,610.90 earlier in the session. US gold futures rose 2 percent to $1,605.80. “The jump in the price of what’s viewed by investors as a safer asset in times of political and economic uncertainty came after Iran’s missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq early on Wednesday,” said a Reuters report. “The attack came hours after the funeral of an Iranian commander whose killing in a US drone strike has raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle-East,” it said.
