Stock Market News- ONGC, NTPC top gainers, Ashok Leyland Falls

ONGC, NTPC top gainers - NTPC shares gained more than 1.25% to hit Rs 129.20 on BSE. Yes, Bank shares are trading 0.75% higher at Rs 93.90. Heromotocorp, TCS, M&M have emerged among the biggest losers, shedding more than 1% each. 


Dishman Carbogen Amcis Jumps On Heavy Volumes Shares of the specialty pharma products maker rose as much as 9.3 percent, the most since May 20, to Rs 232.85. Trading volume was more than 80 times its 20-day average, Bloomberg data showed. Of the shares traded, 43 percent were at the asking price and 33 percent were at the bid. 

Cipla Gains - On EU Unit’s JV Plans Shares of the drugmaker rose as much as 1.3 percent to Rs 557.60. The pharmaceutical company’ European Union unit entered into a joint venture agreement with Jiangsu Acebright Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. ('Acebright'), China yesterday, according to its stock exchange filing. Cipla EU will hold 80 percent stake in the joint venture, the statement added.

Jet Airways said the first meeting of Committee of Creditors will be held on July 16.

Page Industries in Focus - Cartica Capital sold 2.03 percent stake in the company during February 14-July 12, 2019. After stake sale, Cartica Capital now holds 2.98 percent stake against 5.01 percent in October 2018.

Rupee Opening - The Indian rupee opened lower at 68.56 against the US dollar, down 3 paise compared to Monday's close of 68.53 a dollar.

Ashok Leyland Falls-  After Temporarily Shutting Plant Shares of the commercial vehicle maker fell as much as 3.80 percent to Rs 82.20, the lowest in nearly a month. The company’s plant located in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand will remain closed from July 16 to July 24, due to weak demand and outlook for the industry, according to its notification on the exchanges. 

Vakrangee Jumps 5%- Vakrangee shares rallied 5 percent intraday after any decision to set up electric vehicle charging infrastructure across India. The company will set up the charging infrastructure facility through its Nextgen Vakrangee Kendra outlets. Vakrangee has 3,504 Nextgen Vakrangee Kendra's spread across 19 states, 366 districts, and 2,186 postal codes. More than 68% outlets are from Tier 5 and tier 6 cities.

Stock Market News - Yellow metal hits fresh record high as Iran attacks US forces

On the MCX, gold contracts for February were trading higher by Rs 562, or 1.38 percent, at Rs 41,225 per 10 gram at 0920 hours. It hit a record high of 42,278 per 10 gm. India Gold February futures hit a fresh record high on January 8 tracking gains in international spot prices which surged past $1,600 an ounce mark after Iran fired rockets at Iraqi airbase which hosts US forces that triggered risk-off sentiment. Spot prices hit their highest since March 2013 at $1,610.90 earlier in the session. US gold futures rose 2 percent to $1,605.80. “The jump in the price of what’s viewed by investors as a safer asset in times of political and economic uncertainty came after Iran’s missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq early on Wednesday,” said a Reuters report. “The attack came hours after the funeral of an Iranian commander whose killing in a US drone strike has raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle-East,” it said.
