Stock Market News - Infosys Top Performer, DHFL Hits 10%

Infosys Top Performer  - On Sensex, Nifty Shares of Infosys rose as much as 5.8 percent, the most in two years, to Rs 768.70. The stock was the best performer on Sensex and Nifty. The Bengaluru-based software developer raised its revenue forecast for the full year even as higher costs led to a contraction in margin and decline in profit in the quarter ended June.

DHFL Hits 10% -  Lower Circuit After Reporting Loss In Q4 Shares of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. hit their lower circuit of 10 percent to Rs 61.65, their lowest level since October 2013. Crisis-hit Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. said it aims to restart lending operations by August 2019 after the company reported a loss of Rs 2,223 crore for the quarter ended March 2019. 

Allahabad Bank Drops -  The Most In Eight Months Shares of Allahabad Bank fell as much as 14.4 percent, the most since November 2018, to Rs 40.35. The PSU Bank reported a fraud of over Rs 1,774 crore by Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd. “On the basis of Forensic Audit Investigation findings and CBI filing FIR, on suo moto basis, against the Company and its Directors, alleging diversion of funds from banking system by the Bank's borrower namely Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd., a fraud of Rs 1,774.82 core has been reported by the Bank to the Reserve Bank of India,” Allahabad Bank said in a stock exchange filing.

BHEL Swings - After Order Win Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. fluctuated between gains and losses to trade little changed at Rs 64.80. The state-run company won an order worth Rs 100 crore for setting up a 25 MW floating solar photovoltaic power plant on EPC basis from NTPC. 

BEML Expects Orderbook To Be At Rs 12,000-13,000 Crore In FY20 BEML Ltd. expects its orderbook to be at around Rs 12,000-13,000 crore in the current financial year, its Chairman and Managing Director DK Hota.

Rupee Opening: - The Indian rupee started off day on a positive note, appreciating 14 paise to 68.54 against the US dollar. Friday's close was 68.68 a dollar.

Petrol & Diesel Price Update - Petrol price increased by 13 paise to Rs 78.82 per litre but diesel price remained unchanged at Rs 69.43 per litre in Mumbai.

Sun Pharma gains -  Infosys share price surged more than 5.5% in the morning trade to hit the day's high at Rs 767. Yes Bank shares zoomed more than 5% to Rs 99.20. Drugmaker Sun Pharma shares jumped more than 4% to Rs 421. VEDL, Heromotocorp, L&T were among the top losers shedding more than 1% each.

Stock Market News - Yellow metal hits fresh record high as Iran attacks US forces

On the MCX, gold contracts for February were trading higher by Rs 562, or 1.38 percent, at Rs 41,225 per 10 gram at 0920 hours. It hit a record high of 42,278 per 10 gm. India Gold February futures hit a fresh record high on January 8 tracking gains in international spot prices which surged past $1,600 an ounce mark after Iran fired rockets at Iraqi airbase which hosts US forces that triggered risk-off sentiment. Spot prices hit their highest since March 2013 at $1,610.90 earlier in the session. US gold futures rose 2 percent to $1,605.80. “The jump in the price of what’s viewed by investors as a safer asset in times of political and economic uncertainty came after Iran’s missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq early on Wednesday,” said a Reuters report. “The attack came hours after the funeral of an Iranian commander whose killing in a US drone strike has raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle-East,” it said.
