Stock Market News - Dr. Reddy’s Gains, Coffee Day Enterprises down 20%

Dr. Reddy’s Gains After Q1 Results -  Shares of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories rose as much as 1.3 percent to Rs 2,689 after the company announced its quarterly results for the three months ended June.

Coffee Day Enterprises Hits 20% Lower Circuit -  Shares of Coffee Day Enterprises hit their lower circuit of 20 percent at Rs 153.40. This after the company’s founder VG Siddhartha has been reported missing since Monday evening. According to ANI, Siddhartha — who’s also the son-in-law of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna — went missing near the Netravati River in Mangaluru. 


Rupee Opens: The Indian rupee opened flat at 68.75  per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close 68.73.

Crude Update: Oil prices extended overnight gains on Tuesday amid widespread expectations the U.S. Federal Reserve will cut interest rates for the first time in more than a decade this week.

ICICI Bank, Tata Steel top gainers- ICICI Bank, Tata Steel shares are among the biggest gainers, jumping up to 1.5%. Kotak Mahindra Bank, NTPC are among the biggest losers, shedding up to 0.4%. Asian stocks edged up on Tuesday as equity investors prepared for an expected U.S. interest rate cut this week while heightened concerns in currency markets about a no-deal Brexit sent the pound to a 28-month low. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan gained 0.15%.

Pfizer rises over 1.5% - Drugmaker Pfizer has agreed to spin off its generic drugs business and combine it with Mylan, a move that leaves Pfizer with more profitable innovative drugs, including cancer drug Ibrance and pneumonia vaccine Prevnar, said a Reuters report.

Reliance Nippon Life Q1 net up 13% - Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management (RNAM) reported a 13% increase in its net profit to Rs 125.40 crore in the June quarter against Rs 111.06 crore in the corresponding previous quarter. As on June 30, assets under management rose 6% year-on-year to Rs 4,30,661 crore. 

Hero MotoCorp Worst Performer On Sensex, Nifty Head Of Results -  Shares of Hero MotoCorp fell as much as 1.5 percent to Rs 2,370 ahead of the results announcement. The stock was the worst performer on Sensex and Nifty.

Stock Market News - Yellow metal hits fresh record high as Iran attacks US forces

On the MCX, gold contracts for February were trading higher by Rs 562, or 1.38 percent, at Rs 41,225 per 10 gram at 0920 hours. It hit a record high of 42,278 per 10 gm. India Gold February futures hit a fresh record high on January 8 tracking gains in international spot prices which surged past $1,600 an ounce mark after Iran fired rockets at Iraqi airbase which hosts US forces that triggered risk-off sentiment. Spot prices hit their highest since March 2013 at $1,610.90 earlier in the session. US gold futures rose 2 percent to $1,605.80. “The jump in the price of what’s viewed by investors as a safer asset in times of political and economic uncertainty came after Iran’s missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq early on Wednesday,” said a Reuters report. “The attack came hours after the funeral of an Iranian commander whose killing in a US drone strike has raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle-East,” it said.
