Stock Market News - Adani Green Rises, DHFL gains, Reliance Capital fall

Adani Green Energy Rises -  After Promoter Cuts Stake Shares of the renewable energy producer snapped its four-day losing streak and rose as much as 2.4 percent to Rs 43.55 each. Promoter group under name of Gautam S Adani plans to sell cumulatively 5.98 percent stake in the company at a floor price of Rs 43 per share.


DHFL gains -  Dewan Housing Finance (DHFL) informed exchanges Tuesday that the company has made a full payment towards interest payable on secured redeemable NCDs issued by way of the public issue within the cure period of seven working days. Aadhar Housing said that Blackstone has acquired a 97.7 percent stake in the company for including the entire stake held by the existing controlling shareholders, Wadhawan Global Capital Ltd. 

Rupee Opens: The Indian rupee opened flat at 69.45 per dollar on Wednesday against previous close  69.44.

Crude Update: Oil prices fell on Wednesday, weighed down by a weaker oil demand outlook and a rise in U.S. crude inventories despite growing expectations of ongoing OPEC-led supply cuts.

Top losers and gainers- Yes Bank, SBI, Indiabulls Housing, ONGC, Zee Entertainment, Bharti Airtel and Infosys are among major losers on the indices in the early trade, while gainers are DHFL, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Sterlite Tech, Motherson Sumi, ITC and Asian Paints. Among the sectors, except metal and energy, all other indices are trading lower led by IT, pharma, auto, bank, and infra.

Reliance Capital, Reliance Home Finance Fall  - After PwC Resigns As Auditor Shares of Reliance Capital fell as much as 6.7 percent to Rs 87.40, while shares of Reliance Home Finance fell as much as 9.8 percent to Rs 16.05. This after Price Waterhouse & Co Chartered Accountants LLP resigned as one of the statutory auditors of the two firms citing certain "observations or transactions" in its assessment which if not resolved.

Central Bank Of India Hits Record - Low Shares of Central Bank Of India extended declines for the sixth consecutive trading session, its longest losing streak in over a month. The stock fell as much as 1.7 percent to hit a record low a Rs 23.60.

Stock Market News - Yellow metal hits fresh record high as Iran attacks US forces

On the MCX, gold contracts for February were trading higher by Rs 562, or 1.38 percent, at Rs 41,225 per 10 gram at 0920 hours. It hit a record high of 42,278 per 10 gm. India Gold February futures hit a fresh record high on January 8 tracking gains in international spot prices which surged past $1,600 an ounce mark after Iran fired rockets at Iraqi airbase which hosts US forces that triggered risk-off sentiment. Spot prices hit their highest since March 2013 at $1,610.90 earlier in the session. US gold futures rose 2 percent to $1,605.80. “The jump in the price of what’s viewed by investors as a safer asset in times of political and economic uncertainty came after Iran’s missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq early on Wednesday,” said a Reuters report. “The attack came hours after the funeral of an Iranian commander whose killing in a US drone strike has raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle-East,” it said.
