Stocks To Watch:Sun Pharma gains 2%, RIL, Infosys Top Gainers,Sensex, Nifty Trade Higher

Sun Pharma Top Performer On Sensex -  Nifty Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. was the top performer on Sensex and Nifty. The stock rose as much as 3.2 per cent to Rs 430. The drugmaker’s U.S. subsidiary, Taro Pharma reported its quarterly results for the three months ended December. At 09:18 hrs Sun Pharmaceutical Industries was quoting at Rs 425.95, up Rs 10.55, or 2.54 per cent, on the BSE.



Infosys hits record high;- The stock breaks above resistance at Rs 759.8, the 50 per cent Fibonacci projection level of the uptrend from August 22, 2017 low to October 1, 2018 high. The stock was trading up 15.18 per cent this year as of the last close, compared with the broader NSE index's 0.66 per cent gains in the same period.

Opening Bell: Sensex, Nifty Trade Higher - Sensex and Nifty--opened mildly higher ahead of the RBI Monetary Policy meeting and tracking weak global cues. The Sensex is up 117 points to 37,092.18, while the Nifty is trading above the 11,050-mark. The street will be looking forward to a cut in key policy rates in today's RBI MPC meet. Sun Pharma shares zoomed by more than 2.7% to Rs 426.90 on BSE, while Tata Motors shares price jumped nearly 2% 

Rupee Update: Indian rupee is trading lower by 10 paise at 71.65 per dollar against previous close 71.55 per dollar.

Stock Market News - Yellow metal hits fresh record high as Iran attacks US forces

On the MCX, gold contracts for February were trading higher by Rs 562, or 1.38 percent, at Rs 41,225 per 10 gram at 0920 hours. It hit a record high of 42,278 per 10 gm. India Gold February futures hit a fresh record high on January 8 tracking gains in international spot prices which surged past $1,600 an ounce mark after Iran fired rockets at Iraqi airbase which hosts US forces that triggered risk-off sentiment. Spot prices hit their highest since March 2013 at $1,610.90 earlier in the session. US gold futures rose 2 percent to $1,605.80. “The jump in the price of what’s viewed by investors as a safer asset in times of political and economic uncertainty came after Iran’s missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq early on Wednesday,” said a Reuters report. “The attack came hours after the funeral of an Iranian commander whose killing in a US drone strike has raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle-East,” it said.
