Stocks to buy- Vedanta gains 2%,Sensex, Nifty Open Higher, Infosys Top Gainers

Shares of Vedanta were trading nearly 2 percent higher in the early deals.


Sensex Nifty open Higher -  It is a strong start for the indices on Wednesday with Nifty trading above 10,650 level. At 09:17 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 196.95 points at 35549.56, while Nifty is up 63.50 points at 10,667.90. About 595 shares have advanced, 249 shares declined, and 49 shares are unchanged. All the sectoral indices are trading in green led by realty, energy, metal, infra, pharma, and FMCG.

Top Stocks - Shriram Trasport, ITI, Yes Bank, Indiabulls Housing, Vedanta, Power Grid, Dr. Reddy's Lab, Grasim, Bajaj Finserv, are among major gainers, while losers include Zee Entertainment, Reliance Capital.

Rupee Opens: The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 71.29 per dollar versus Monday's close 71.34.

OIL PRICES - Oil prices slipped from 2019 highs on Wednesday as rising US supply eroded OPEC cuts. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures were at $55.84 per barrel at 6:56 am, down 25 cents, or 0.5 percent, from their last settlement.

YES Bank: The private sector lender on Tuesday denied any wrongdoing stating that the ‘zero divergence’ disclosure was done to comply with the listing regulations and to ensure information symmetry.

Kaveri Seed Falls For Fifth Day-  Shares of Kaveri Seed fell for the fifth consecutive trading session. The stock declined as much as 12.3 percent in today’s trade to Rs 368.80. Trading volume was almost 90 times its 20-day average, Bloomberg data showed. The scrip fell 25 percent in the past five days and declined 31 percent in the past 30 days.

Stock Market News - Yellow metal hits fresh record high as Iran attacks US forces

On the MCX, gold contracts for February were trading higher by Rs 562, or 1.38 percent, at Rs 41,225 per 10 gram at 0920 hours. It hit a record high of 42,278 per 10 gm. India Gold February futures hit a fresh record high on January 8 tracking gains in international spot prices which surged past $1,600 an ounce mark after Iran fired rockets at Iraqi airbase which hosts US forces that triggered risk-off sentiment. Spot prices hit their highest since March 2013 at $1,610.90 earlier in the session. US gold futures rose 2 percent to $1,605.80. “The jump in the price of what’s viewed by investors as a safer asset in times of political and economic uncertainty came after Iran’s missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq early on Wednesday,” said a Reuters report. “The attack came hours after the funeral of an Iranian commander whose killing in a US drone strike has raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle-East,” it said. Share market LIVE: The benchmark equity indices – Sensex and Nifty – opened on a lower note Wednesday even as the domestic markets rallied yesterday. The S&P BSE Sensex Index declined 0.6% intraday to 36,035.78 and the NSE Nifty 50 Index fell 0.38 percent to trade near 10,850.
