ICICI Bank Extends Gain After Q3 Asset Quality Improves, Sacks Chanda Kochhar Shares of ICICI Bank extended gains for the third day and rose as much as 2.3 per cent, to Rs 374.45. The stock was the best performer on Sensex and Nifty. The lender’s enquiry committee headed by former Supreme Court judge BN Srikrishna found Chanda Kochhar was in violation of bank’s code of conduct for conflict of interest. Bank will seek clawback of all bonuses paid to her from April 2009 until March 2018.

BSE live: Sensex up 200 points, Nifty near 10,700; ICICI Bank, Tata Steel shares rally
The domestic stock markets --Sensex and Nifty-- opened higher tracking positive global cues on Thursday morning. The Sensex is up 204 points to 35,796.11, while the Nifty is trading near the 10,700-mark. ICICI Bank shares gained by more than 2.7% to hit the day’s high at Rs 373.50, after the private sector lender reported strong Q3 results. For ICICI Bank, slippages came in lowest in 14 quarters, with Net Interest Margin coming in best in seven quarters. Tata Steel share price gained by nearly 2% to Rs 477.

Rupee higher against US dollar on dovish Fed
The rupee was trading at 70.91 a dollar, up 0.3% from its previous close of 71.13. The home currency today opened at 70.92 a dollar.

Bharti Airtel Gains Ahead Of Q3 Results, Fund Raising Plans For Africa Unit Shares of Bharti Airtel rose as much as 1.6 per cent to Rs 308.65. Qatar Investment Authority will infuse $200 million or Rs 1,400 crore in the telecom operator’s Africa unit. The investment authority will own less than 4 per cent stake in the African unit.

Stock Market News - FDC share price at 52-week high on GMP certificate from UK health regulator

The certificate came after a recent inspection of the company's facilities in Goa. FDC  share price touched a 52-week high of Rs 222, rising more than 5 percent in the morning trade on January 3 after the company received the good manufacturing practice (GMP) certificate from the UK's health regulator. The UK's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency also continued with its approved status for the company's two facilities in Verna, Goa. The GMP certificate was issued after a recent inspection of the two plants. At 1018 hours, FDC was quoting at Rs 218.00, up Rs 7.30, or 3.46 percent.
